Rise and Shine.

Knowing that you have to wake up early can dampen anyone’s mood. There is no better feeling than when you lay down at night knowing you can sleep until noon, and not feel guilty about it. However, sometimes in life you are on a schedule, whether it is school or work, you will eventually have to wake up at an ungodly hour and try to make yourself somehow presentable and ready for the day. Here are some of the things I do to start my day off and wake up in a decent mood because I, myself, am a morning troll.

1.        The night before pick out what you plan on wearing the next day because we all know as girls we can spend all day on picking out what socks we are going to wear; you don’t have time for that in the mornings, so if you have a perfect outfit laid out and ready for you in the morning that will give you some extra time to sleep.

2.        Set your alarm for 15 minutes earlier than you have to wake up. Waking up in a rush can make you feel frazzled and confused. Stay away from that snooze button!

3.        Use those 15 minutes to listen to music or just have some quiet time, prepare yourself for the battle that they call school/co-workers.

4.        Take a shower in the morning instead of at night.

5.        Eat a full breakfast. Don’t just eat a doughnut and drink a cup of coffee that will help you make it until about 11 o’clock then you will be exhausted again. My suggestion would be eat a bowl of oatmeal with some apple slices on the side and drink a cup of water. I know that sounds like a super boring and healthy breakfast but the oats and apples give you tons of energy, and I know that many of you coffee lovers are cursing me because I say no coffee, but if you haven’t noticed you drink that cup of coffee and then three hours later you need another for more energy. To avoid the caffeine crash, drink juice or water instead and be energized all day.

I hope some of these tips can make the chore of getting up early a little easier!

With love,
Darcy.
